How Lowes scams you into their credit card
we were in Lowes in Nanaimo b.c. a couple of weeks ago and saw some flooring we liked. We were told we could get 5% off with a Lowes "business account". Being in business myself, I know what a business account is, so I applied. I only found out half an hour later in the process in talking to their credit firm on the phone in the store that it was in fact a credit card, which I most certainly did not want or need. At that point they had already done a credit check, and the resultant negative affect on my credit score would already have been done, so I proceeded. I was also unaware that the 5% did not apply if any other specials were in effect, negating most potential benefits of the card. Needless to say I am disgusted. I have taken my concerns to management, and they are putting it back down to the store who will no doubt blame their hapless employees, who are only doing what they were trained to do. They did not come up with the term business account on their own to sell credit cards!
